This is my outlet,
a compilation of the thoughts i'm trying to put in words.
Someone once told me Art is what is left after everything else has been defined. These are my undefined thoughts
Rives is an amazing AMAZING poet and I suggest you youtube (yes I just used youtube as a verb) his other poems. He's just amazing and this poem touched me.
I came across an artist whose photographs just grabbed me. I think because they are so eccentric and raw and daring! Here are some of my favourites from Marilyn Mintar's collection Green Pink Caviar.
"I like the idea of making an image of what we all know just nobody ever records because its not perfection but eventually everybody's makeup runs , some people start sweating, its just the nature of the beast and I'm interested in that part where things start falling apart."

Because of the overwhelming response to the post I did on Saheir Hammad. I decided to do another. Im completely enamored with this poet and I'm glad they're are others who recognize her tremendous talent.
What I Will
I will not dance to your war drum. I will not lend my soul nor my bones to your war drum. I will not dance to your beat. I know that beat. It is lifeless. I know intimately that skin you are hitting, it was alive once. Hunted. Stolen. Stretched. I will not dance to your drummed up war. I will not pop, spin, break for you. I will not hate for you, nor even hate you. I will not kill for you especially I WILL NOT DIE FOR YOU. I will not mourn the dead with murder nor suicide. I will not side with you nor dance to bombs because everyone is dancing. Everyone can be wrong. Life is a right. not collateral or casual. I will not forget where I come from. I will craft my own drum. Gather my beloved near and our chanting will be dancing. Our humming will be drumming. I will not be played. I will not let my name nor my rhythm to your beat. I will dance and resist and dance and persist and DANCE! This heartbeat is louder than death. Your war drum aint louder than this breath!
Sharing my favourite passage from the book The Alchemist by Paul Coehlo.
What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life, and that, with no need for words, she recognized the same thing. He was more certain of it than of anything in the world. He had been told by his parents and grandparents that he must fall in love and really know a person before becoming committed. But maybe people who felt that way had never learned the universal language. Because, when you know that language, it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainly that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning. Maktub* , thought the boy
*means “It Is Written” or destined, in Arabic
Do I believe in love at first sight? No. But damn, Coehlo makes a convincing argument.

Interesting exhibition by Andrew Neyer and Andy Miller called Color me. They created a 24 ft "coloring book" and guests colored it in with super huge markers. Pretty cool. I checked out their personal works, not my kind of illustrations but I find their exhibition was novel and so I decided to share it with you
I also found this video called Robo-Rainbow by Ackay that made me smile.
And since where on the topic of videos that make your heart smile, enjoy Symmetry by Everynone

Today I'm showcasing three amazing artists whose specialties are art installations.
Dale Chihuly
He is a glass sculptor whose installations have been commissioned world wide
He has more amazing pieces and you can check them out at his website http://www.chihuly.com/
Charles Clary
He is a new artist that creates these beautiful installations by layering hand cut paper.
Susan Benarcik
She also uses paper, this time recycled paper. Her collection is very diverse so check out her other work on http://www.susanbenarcik.com/
I love love love love all the different ways and forms art installations can come in. There are almost infinite resources, inconcievable amount of spaces to transform and much much more artists to discover. As usual I will keep you posted in my journey to find more inspiring collections.

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
These poems have long been favourited on my youtube account but I decided to share it today in light of recent events. I awoke to Twitter informing me of the death of Osama Bin Laden. And while I am thankful that he cannot continue to share his hateful teachings, I find something eerie and disconcerting about celebrating someones death. I hope his death means the end of this bloody war on terror but it is my greatest fear that its not.
But this is not a political blog, and I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions on the matter. I hope these poems allow you to appreciate the many perspectives on this issue. The first is Corner Talk, September by Danny Hoch, the other is First Writing Since by one of my favourite poets Suheir Hammad.
I wrestled with myself on whether or not this is suitable content for an art blog but the costumes are works of art right? right?
Its carnival time here in StLucia and that means time for gorgeous costumes, endless parties, limitless alcohol and epic times with friends. I can't think of a better way to spend my last precious summer before university (If I get in that is). Here are the best costume options this year in my biased opinions. I hope you enjoy this sampling of caribbean culture! XD
It is unnatural to be this EXCITED about two days of debauchery but I am!!
