I read a quote once but for the life of me i can't find it. It said basically that when sculpting you have to put your life and energy into every bit of clay or stone because over time sculptures are weathered and destroyed and the fragments left must have every bit of integrity as the original sculpture. Of course it sounded much more poetic.
Anyway you get the point.
My art teacher told us to research and find a piece that inspired us and I will share what I found with you.
I discovered Karen fletcher. She worked alongside Isabella Stefanscu creating a collection called
Intimate Distance : Etudes/Studies

top: Gesture with Bamboo Pole/KM8
second row: Gesture - K with Pillory Position/KM9
third row: Study - E Reclining/CZ2
fourth row : Study-L reclining /LO9
Isabella would draw a nude model and then Karen would sculpt a representation of that drawing. Its very raw and gritty and has a unfinished feel that I like.
I had a chance on an art field trip to see the collection in person and I thought it was the most beautiful interpretations Ive ever seen.
